Planting our first fruit and nut trees in Quinta Cheia January 21
Well, there are already quite a few trees from the former owners. Mostly Araçás, Guava, Bananas, Chestnut, Loquats, Anona, peaches, plums and Avocado (Reed), what already give us more or less fruits.
This year we plant things like Mango, Macadamia, Oranges, Grapefruit, Almond, Figs, Pear, Walnuts, Kaki, Pomegranate.
So good to have Giulio here to help us tirelessly and with so much enthusiasm! We had made the order of the little trees shortly before Jan’s accident, and now we must get them into the ground to not loose our precious purchase and make a good start for the next years! These photos are from the 23rd – 28th of January. Amazing how well Jan is already on his leg again! Even though I would really love to slow him down from time to time…
Avocado Hass Mango (this tree died and we had to try again next year) Almond, Walnut, Pear Jan is trying out different ways to optimally prepare and nourish the planting hole He also used seaweeds we had collected at the beach and wood chips with horse manure from the riding club Giulio (with the cats Princesa and Jacky)
